Verifone pin pad 1000SE error H6: Re-Enter ???

I keep getting this error and I was told it is the encryption that is causing it.  However, First Data has now sent us 3 sets of pin pads and I am still getting the same error in RMS when trying to process a debit card.   All the hardware/software checks out and tests fine.   Is this error really an encryption problem or could it be something else??

I can't seem to find any information on this error anywhere.

    We are receiving the same error in 2 of our stores. We are using the Verifone 1000se in one store and the Verifone MX850 in another store. I was told today that the problem is in the Encryption Key injected in the Pin Pads.

    H6 is the response back from the debit gateway. The PIN pad is working.

    The error is typically caused by invalid EDC entries in Store Operations Administrator, File, Configuration, EDC tab, Advanced. Check both tabs and the Advanced button entries.

    If you have more than one POS lane and other lanes are working fine, look up the EDC settings on a working lane and copy those settings to the problem lane, then restart POS.

    If you only have one POS lane, contact your merchant processor for the correct EDC settings especially Sharing Group (all caps) and confirm your merchant account is enabled for debit card processing.

    Is the pinpad connection USB or DB9 Serial?

    Is the pinpad encrypted for TSYS/Vital?

    If serial, did you unplug your station from the electric outlet prior to installation on the pinpad.  If not then the encryption in the pinpad could be "blown" or scrambled.

    If the pinpad is not encrypted to TSYS then it will not work.  

    If the pinpad is USB, is the driver installed if using a usb to serial convertor?  If not then install the driver.  

    Also is the correct com port set in the registry.  If not see this article:  www.microsoft.com/.../zsheet_pinpad.htm

    Hi there. Were you able to solve this issue?

    I am having the same problem and can't get it fixed.

    Hmm well according to our reseller he has hundreds of these pin pads working.  I also told First Data they needed to encrypt the pin pads to work with Tsys and they said they would.  I think First Data works with Tsys to get the accounts setup and working.  At least that is what seems to be happening from what I am being told.

    Pretty sure you cannot use a pin-pad with FDC using the EDC (TSYS) option.  You either need an add-on or switch to a processor that can use TSYS for pin-pads.  FDC and TYSYS are competitors and neither wants to pay more than they have to.

    It might be possible to use a pin-pad and FDC with the Microsoft Dynamics Online option, but have never tried it;

    We are using "preferred acquirer credit/debit card processing"  choice from the EDC menu tab in administrator.  I then type in the required banking information.  we have doubled and triple verified the banking info.  The credit cards are processing fine.

    Are you using the built in cc processing with RMS or using 3rd party application like PC Charge with RMS ?

    Hi,

    I would suggest having them regenrate a new set of V numbers. Totally reset the account, see if that helps.

    Thanks for the reply.  This is a brand new account and we have been working with First Data extensively.   I'm not sure what their issue is but I can't believe after 3 different sets of pin pads I am still getting the same error.    I guess I will let them know they still aren't working.   I'm not sure what else to tell them about the encryption except that it needs to be for Tsys (vital).
