Dear 

I need to update the Acquisition cost , is it ok if i do it through SQL ? would that affect something else ?

given that i am able to change the COST BASIS manually

    Why would you not Make the change directly in the Asset General window?  If you click on the blue arrow next to the Acquisition Cost field, you can increase/decrease the cost there and update the Cost Basis in the Book Card.
