Hello all,
I am really stuck on this problem now. I was searching now for more than one week on the forum and around the web.
The problem is following:
We have CRM users which are working for organization A and B.
Currently they are working with the Outlook CRM 2011 Plugin (on Outlook 2003) which is configured for both organizations, but as we know you can only synchronize with one organization (let's say OrgA). So they are working on OrgA via CRM Plugin and on OrgB via CRM webversion.
They are tracking emails manually (Track or Set regarding) for the OrgA at the moment but however from time to time they get emails from contacts which are not present on OrgA and they have to track them for OrgB.
How can they track now emails on a different organization?
I thought about setting up a CRM Email router for OrgB which has an email address like track@org-b.com and users have to send the emails they want to be tracked as an attachment to this address.
But I am not sure if this setup could run and have some concerns here:
- Could this setup run in parallel, being connected and tracking manually for OrgA and track for OrgB by sending the mails as an attachment to the CRM router for OrgB?
- Will the emails be tracked in the name of the users who originally got the mails?
- How would the process of unwrapping the emails (with attachments) and tracking it on CRM OrgB look like? And is a service user like TrackOrgB (track@org-b.com) on the Exchange Server and on the CRM OrgB plattform enough or how would that look like?
- So far it will be a "one way" solution = only tracking of emails on OrgB. Would it be a problem to set up the functionality of tracking and sending emails via OrgB?
Thank you very much for your help.
Any help is higly appreciated.
Please let me know if you need any further information.
Best regards,
Flos
To be aware of:
- Changing configuration of the synchronized organization each time is not possible (and also not recommended)
- Multiple Outlook profiles are not wanted
Further information:
- No emails get tracked automatically so far
- No CRM (forwarding) rules are currently used.
- In an ideal environment this would not be an use case, but unfortunately the design is given like that and cant be changed
- Infrastructure:
Users are working on Outlook 2003 (with MS CRM 2011 plugin)
Users are present as user on OrgA as well as on OrgB
MS CRM 2011 on WinServer 2008 for OrgA/B
Exchange Server 2007 - I saw a post here: http://blogs.msdn.com/b/crm/archive/2007/04/17/bulk-tracking-old-e-mails.aspx
