Lot our customer run into this issue but the fix is very simple.Check your excel sheet whether you have any column values all in number , if so you may get this error because the field type of this column may be string in Crm. To fix this issue select the column in excel and go to format and set it to text save it and try to import.

What kind of field is it?  Is it a date field?  For example if your target system is using a different date format to the source system its possible that that you will get errors because of this - in the US they use mm/dd/yyyy whereas in the UK we use dd/mm/yyyy so if the source system is UK and the target system is US then you will get an error with this date: 30/04/2015 because there are not 30 months in the year.

Just as Neethuanna I am curious as to how this issue is resolved. Moreover, I'm having the issue on a date field, as Jack Nutkins posted. Next, at this moment I am having the same problem in a Dynamics CRM Online 2016 Update 1 environment where the system organisation is set up in Dutch.

Hello Neethuanna, I would like to know how you solved this issue. I have the same trouble. Thanks in advanced.

    Guys,

Make sure the Source and Target system's date formats are the same. Settings>Administration>System Settings>Formats.

If the Source system formats are different than Target, then change the Source system and then export the data to excel template.

Also once the data is exported to excel, right click the date column value and go to format cells, see the category whether its Date or Custom.

    Thanks for your answer.

The Source System Settings  is in Format: España (Ecuador): dd/MM/yyyy

The Source User Settings  is in Format: España (Ecuador): dd/MM/yyyy

The regional system of the computer: España (Ecuador): dd/MM/yyyy

The Template that is exported from CRM, has the format: dd/MM/yyyy.  Even I can not enter other format.  And it is in format of Datetime.

But I can not import, the message keeps: "Data is not in the right format"

    Please your comments. Thanks

I also have the same issue, all my setting match.

    Did anyone find the solution?

    Thanks

    No solution was found.

Its probably a bug in the version. I reported to Microsoft.

Thanks for all your posts on this.  Am having the same problem and for now the OP's workaround of changing the date column in Excel to text (AFTER the dates have been entered) seems to work.  Changing the format to text changes the date to a number (e.g. 02/04/1981 in UK date format shows as 29678 after changing the format to text) and this imports into the CRM as the correct date.
