Dynamics GP ABN Lookup

I have an issue with the ABN lookup under options on the Creditor Maintenance window. On one workstation when clicking the ABN lookup an error message pops up "No Internet Connection". All other workstations are working correctly. The machine is connected to the internet. Any ideas?

Thanks

David

Can you browse in the normal web browser to the URL from that machine?

    e.g.

    abr.business.gov.au/SearchByAbn.aspx

    and

    abr.business.gov.au/.../abndetail.asp

    (thanks Dave M)

If not, could there be a web proxy setup wrong, group policy or firewall blocking access for this machine?

Does it depend on the user logged into the machine on if it works or not?

At this point I'm thinking it is not a GP specific issue, GP is just highlighting the symptom?

    Tim.

For others not familiar with this handy lookup to the Australian Government Business Register,

"This functionality is enabled when Australian GST is selected in the Company Setup Options window and found is on the Company Setup, Creditor/Vendor Maintenance Options and Debtor/Customer Maintenance Options windows."

    Hello David,

I found an support case we seen with this exact error and issue. They mentioned in the case that this error obviously occurs when the application is unable to access the website and mentioned the following URLs to test connecting to:

    abr.business.gov.au/SearchByAbn.aspx

    abr.business.gov.au/.../ABRSearchByABN;includeHistoricalDetails=Y&authenticationGuid=ff35d699-ee94-4712-b85e-f561fa54edcf

**NOTE: I tested both of these URLs, the 2nd is more of an XML page, but both render.

I also found the following blog, which mentions information on proxy servers and URL blocking along with this ABN lookup. It mentions GP 2013, but the information appears to be the same in newer releases of GP:

    blogs.msdn.microsoft.com/.../microsoft-dynamics-gp-2013-service-pack-1-updates-abn-lookup-feature

Let us know if you have any questions.

    Thank you,

Even better resource than the one I found! Forum has messed up one of the URLs there though.

    Tim.

Yes, it keeps cutting it off no matter what I do, the URL should be

    http://

    http://abr.business.gov.au/abrxmlsearch/AbrXmlSearch.asmx/ABRSearchByABN?searchString=29+002+589+460&includeHistoricalDetails=Y&authenticationGuid=ff35d699-ee94-4712-b85e-f561fa54edcf

    Thanks

Thank-you all for the responses. Looks like we are not getting through windows firewall to the url. We will fix it up today.

    Thanks to all
