Recurring Sales Opportunity

(0) ShareShare
ReportReport
Posted on by 305

I would like my sales people to either list a sales opportunity as a one-time sales opportunity or as a recurring opportunity.  In addition, if it is a recurring opportunity, I would want to know the probability of each opportunity instance and the estimated close of each instance.  What is the best way to do this so that it is easiest for the salespeople?  i.e. I would hate to have them create a new sales opportunity and rewrite all of the detail from the original opportunity into all of the subsequent opportunities.  I'd like to copy all of the original data, and only change the estimated date of close, the estimated probability of close, and the estimated value.

 Ideas?

    HI Alberto

I guess your looking for a clone function that can create an opportunity from an original opportunity with or without related record, If you can wait a few months and then come back to me as it is on our ISV list, ifyou want  it yourself you need to add an ISV button that passes the ID of the opportunity and then in custom code create a new opportunity with similar details.

     Cheers

    Hallo Alistair,

the "clone" feature request by Alberto is also my problem.

I have several opportunities to fill in which are very similar and I would like to add a "clone" button to create a new opportunity replicating most of the populated fileds of the original one.

Do you finally have a solution for that?

     Thanks so much

    Hi Riccardo,

We have done this before for Quotes. You need to add a custom button that will use server side code to create a clone of the existing record.

You can pass the id of the current Quote/Opportunity to the custom page and it would read and create another Opportunity using the details of the existing Quote/Opportunity. This way you can copy not only the header information but also the products associated with the Opportunity.

If you want to copy only the header information, you can try designing a workflow that creates a new entity record and copy the attribute values from the current record to the new record

You can contact us offline if you could like to get the custom app developed for you.

    Thanks!

    Hi Alberto,

I'd suggest adding a few custom fields on the Opportunity entity to indicate the recurrence (e.g., Recurrence Type as a picklist allowing "One Time", "Monthly", "Semi-Annually", "Annually", etc.).  Then I'd create a workflow rule to watch for the change of status on the Opportunity entity.  Have the workflow rule create a new Opportunity record from the originating one and set the estimated close date to whatever value is specified by the recurrence fields you add on the form.

This is the low-tech, immediate, and free way to accomplish what you are looking for...!

    Hello,

I too am looking for automating our sales pipeline with recurring sales.  Is there a way to have the projected monthly or quarterly revenue reflective in the sales pipeline without being in the opportunities.  So if I am a sales rep and I set an opportunity, then I close the deal, and the account will be purchasing "x" amount of product monthly.  Can that revenue show in my pipeline without creating another opportunity?  I want to focus on new opportunities and closed residual revenue is in the backgroud.

    Thanks for your help.

    Kindly,

    Hi Rachelle,

You may want to consider using the Order Entity to maintain the projected monthly incomes.  Since the Order Entity can be parented by an Opportunity, your rollup reporting would stay the same and you could emulate a "Revenue Forecast" based on the Sales Forecast reports you currently use.

I will look into that. Thank you.  We are not using the Order entity since we work through distribution partners, but may consider opening this feature if needed for projected revenue.

    thanks,

Hello, I see that this question was asked in December of 2008 and I would like to do the same thing, clone an opportunity or add a reoccurring opportunity that can be used each month using the same information and have the ability to change the amount and close date (and other minor details) so that we can forecast incoming revenue.   How can this be done?  I do not see a "clone" or "duplicate record" feature on the opportunity screen.  Please let me know the best way to handle this.  Thank you!
