Tracking v Set regarding

I'm struggling to see the difference between using the tracking and set regarding. Clicking on the tracking button seems much simpler and quicker, so it would seem sensible to use it. What benefits are there by using set regarding?

    You could define a Workflow which updates the Set Regarding field to a specific value, after an Activity is created. Or what do you mean by setting it as a default?

    Is it possible to Set Regarding as a default for the entire organization?

    Hi Patricia,

    MDS is right.

    When you Track an email, the activity is created in CRM but it is not linked to any record.

    On the other hand, when you choose Set Regarding, the email is tracked and you can choose which record you want to link. When you access the record in CRM, the email will appear in the Activity tab.

    Set Regarding allows you to link an email to a particular record as well as the contact/account.
