Hello

I am trying to setup a Vat Group for Representatives and Members, but having issues with the API in the Microsoft Entra ID and the "test connection"in the Vat Group Management Setup.

I have followed all the Microsoft Literature as well as https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/business-central/ui-extensions-vat-group

All the rules in terms of thesetup has been followed for the API URL.

The API URL has been created in the same manner as the literature. Example:

https://api.businesscentral.dynamics.com/v2.0/[TENANT-ID]/[ENVIRONMENTNAME].

Has anyone had any success setting this up?

Any advice or support would be appreciated.

The API and test connection errors, ensure that an application is fully registered in the representative's Entra ID tenant with appropriate API access granted and admin consent applied, verify that the dedicated authenticating user has explicit security access to the representative's specific environment/company, and confirm via the member's Service Connections page that the OAuth2 authorization token is fully authenticated and unexpired.

Hello,

yes, this setup works, but the usual issue is that the API URL alone is not enough: the VAT Group Member must authenticate against the Representative tenant using a dedicated Business Central user created in the Representative environment, and the URL must be copied from the Representative BC Admin Center environment URL, then changed from https://businesscentral.dynamics.com/... to https://api.businesscentral.dynamics.com/v2.0/...; also confirm the exact environment name, tenant ID, and company name match the Representative company, and if using OAuth/app registration make sure the app is multitenant, redirect URL is https://businesscentral.dynamics.com/OAuthLanding.htm, delegated permissions include Financials.ReadWrite.All and user_impersonation, and the user has a full BC license/permissions; if “Test Connection” fails, I would first re-check the dedicated user credentials, company name spelling, and OAuth token/consent, because those are the most common causes even when the URL format looks correct.

Just an update on findings as the Vat Group Management is now working -

The API URL has been created in the same manner as the literature. Example:

https://api.businesscentral.dynamics.com/v2.0/[TENANT-ID]/[ENVIRONMENTNAME].

In the Vat Report Setup for the "Group Representative", the Company name must be the same as the Name in Companies and not the Display Name. See sample screen shot below
