Check the status of the order before changing it to Submitted. Once the order is submitted, it becomes inactive (read only).

Check if the status is equal to active, then only update it to submitted. All other status (Submitted, Invoiced, Canceled and Fulfilled) do not allow any updates.

    Hi Tin Lat,

you can change the record state directly from on demand workflow. You can change the state in Active and after that you can perform your action.

In the workflow wizard: Add Steps -> Change status

    Marco, have you tested this...

i have some Orders, where it isnt possible to change the status of an order, Not manually and Not by Workflow...

reason: record is in state where changes arent possible.

    Hi PeB,

You probably discovered this already by now, but I posted this in case anybody else is wondering.

There are some state changes that are not allowed, even with a workflow's Change Status step. It seems to be the case that you cannot change to a state that is earlier in the order fulfillment process. For example, a workflow cannot change the state of an order directly from Invoiced to Fulfilled.

However, you can change the state of an order to Active regardless of what state it is currently in, and you can change the state from Active to any other state. So sometimes you will have to use the Active state as an intermediary if you're trying to change between two other states.
