I am trying to set-up common chart of accounts for 5 different companies and want to make sure any change in chart of accounts in company 1 is also reflected in company 3. Any suggestions?

Does business central have a concept of virtual company.

I have the same question (0)

    Hi

I believe this is not possible out of the box. This is because is more than chart of account involved. Something like global Dimension and etc.

You can use free app such as  appsource.microsoft.com/.../PUBID.unitechitsolutionsltd1596438951562|AID.master_data_sync|PAPPID.240478c1-69d9-49c5-b9f6-1ee85e96e1d2

or use Power Automation see this www.youtube.com/watch

Also, it is possible to create intercompany chart of account such as www.youtube.com/watch

Hi, or you can do a small customization. When chart of accounts in company 1 is changed, update company 3 at the same time.

    The key method:

    Record.ChangeCompany([String])

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/business-central/dev-itpro/developer/methods-auto/record/record-changecompany-method

Here are two simple examples that hopefully will help you.
