CRM Online Sandbox Environment -- Async Plugins/Workflows Stopped Working

Hi everyone,

I know when there are issues with on-prem you could try restarting the Service, but what do people do when its online? We have been developing out of a sandbox environment for weeks, and up until today Aync workflows and plugins have been working -- you'd see the expected trace logs and system job records. All of a sudden they all stopped working / they don't seem to run. The expected results don't happen, and there are no traces/system job records being created.

Would appreciate any inputs from people as I continue to look into the issue. Thanks.

    Hi,

Open a ticket to Microsoft, ask them to help you restart the service.

    Hello Fred,

For a Sandbox environment online there is an 'administration mode' which can disable the background jobs (workflows) - maybe someone turned this mode on?

Go into the Dynamics 365 Admin Center and verify that your Sandbox is not in administration mode and that the background jobs are running.

    1. Go to the Dynamics 365 Admin Center
    2. Select your Sandbox and click 'Admin'

    3. Uncheck 'Disable background operations' and click Save

If you have copied your Production to Sandbox then you can go with Michel suggestion else you can raise ticket with Microsoft

    Hi Michel,

Thanks for this. We've looked it over and admin mode is not enabled. Curious though, as it worked yesterday..today we're scheduled for an upgrade later tonight on a completely different tenant. Do you know if upgrades can impact async services to that level? Its looking like we need to contact Microsoft, but I'm thinking we wait until the upgrade is complete to test the possibility its some sort of upgrade preparation.

Give it a wait until the upgrade has completed. If background processes are not resumed afterwards, create a Service Request with Microsoft.

    Hi again Michel,

I just wanted to follow up on this in case this sort of information interested you, but it actually did end up being related to the scheduled upgrade. The following day async was working as it was.

    Thanks.
