How to select multiple fields from a look up?

We would like to build custom drop down look up where selecting one of the fields also default the value of another field.
For example, refer to the below image.
In this dropdown look up, selecting the line number should also default the value of BOM item on grid record.
We already checked the reference of creating the new sales order or production order where selecting the customer or item defaults other values, but as we realized that will not work for us.
Any further suggestion or ideas?
