Default posting groups for production order sourced from a sales order

Hi,

When making a production order sourced from a sales order, the posting groups for the production order are not fulfilled automatically with a default setup. Is that possible somehow to setup? It fulfils the posting groups automatically when I source the production order from an item.

Thanks for any help.

BR,

    Mainak,

If I understand you correctly, you are entering an Item on a Sales Order that you did Order Planning to create the Production Order off of. The Item has all its Inventory and Gen. Prod. Posting Group setups. What Posting Groups do you see missing? Work Centers, related to Capacity, have a Gen. Prod. Posting Group but this sounds like an Item you are talking about.

Please explain and send a picture.

    Thanks,

    Steve

    Hi Steven,

Thanks for coming back. I have a sales order, and I make a released production order based on this sales order. The production order is also a project order type, because it is as a project order in the production area. Moving to the actual released production order, the values of the posting groups are not set with a default value, they are just blank. It would be great if the system automatically added default values in this posting area when you have made the production order from the sales order. In that case you do not necessarily have to select the posting groups prior to changing status to a finished production order each time. Hope it makes sense. Images attached below. Thanks.

    Mainak,

OK here is my test. Created a Sales Order with Qty =1 for an Item that I will create a Production Order and select Item on the Create Production Order pop-up.

On the Production Order you have the Posting Groups filled in. I never use Project Order since I am manufacturing an Item.

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks,

    Hi Steven,

Thanks. OK, I will consider using Item Order instead of Project Order. Perhaps that is the best approach.
