Closing income statement

I'm trying to post the closing of my income statement.  I do have the correct posting dates in my General Ledger Setup, but when I go to post, I get this error message:

Posting Date is not within your range of allowed posting dates in Gen. Journal Line Journal Template Name='GENERAL',Journal Batch Name='DEFAULT',Line No.='10000'.

Does this have something to do with the letter"C" being in front of the date?

I have the same question (0)

As far as I can remember, you should write the closing date normal and the report adds the C.

The C12/31/21 is there (automatically) before I post.  Are you saying I should change the date without the C?

I've checked and the report write the c before the date and its ok

You can limit the posting dates by user in the user table or for all users in the general ledger setup card.

Please check there if you have any limit in posting dates

I figured it out.  Before you can post the Closing Income Statement entry (C12/31/??) (general journal), you need to have no date range in the General Ledger Setup.

yep, usually the accounting manager isnt limited by dates because he/she needs to make some special tasks like this one

I confirmed this behavior as well - but this seems 100% wrong to me... and risky.  Am I missing something here??  I am a full admin power super user (CSP account) and get the same error and that seems totally wrong to me.

Some additional info - in testing it was found that C12/31/20## lives between 12/31/20## & 01/01/20## - so one needs to either:

    1) Update General Ledger Setup to encompass 01/01/20## in the posting Date Range – because you cannot enter C12/21/2022 – this setting impacts all users.

    OR

    2) Update User Setup Posting Dates for the user account to encompass, at minimum 01/01/20## – then later either remove the setting/record or extend it as needed, so that the user account is not restricted to less than what GL Setup provides when updated upon closing the year and opening the new month and year.

I can confirm that this behaviour still exists. We used the 2nd option to bypass it, but this is wrong behaviour from the system and I believe it is a bug.
It's the first time we encounter it. Still need to close a lot of files so will follow-up if the behaviour is the same throughout
