Job Posting group for Time And Material

Hello all,

I wonder how business central handle the project type time and material posting group specifically for resources and the G/L flows once i  posted  job planning line with both budget and billable.

Appreciate your help.

    I would not recommend using "Both Budget and Billable" for any Job Planning Lines or postings made via the Job Journal.  The ONLY exception to this would be an Itemized Fixed Contract job, where you are billing based on the Estimate, not the actual costs incurred.  In that case your Job Journal Line Type = Blank.

    That being said, I recommend using the Job Planning Line as "Budget" to build the Job's Estimate.  Then use Job Journal Line Type = "Billable" for true Time and Material billing, where you bill based on the Actual costs incurred in the detail they are recorded to the Job as.  This allows you to record the actual costs in the Job Ledger, does not inflate the Job's Estimate, and allows for quick invoicing through the standard Create Sales Invoice process.
     
    I would encourage you to run some tests in a Sandbox to see if this gives you the billing results you are looking for.  Your BC partner should be able to assist you with this process if needed.
