Error 55555

The question was posted here: http://community.dynamics.com/product/rms/f/106/p/62266/156181.aspx#156181

But that was a year ago with no solution.

I have a 2k8r2 server clean install with SQL Express 2012 and RMS 2.0. These are all clean installs.

The database was imported from an Express 2008 server that is ready to be retired.

When I test the database connection from SOA Configuration, it's fine. But when I try to connect to it, I get the error:

"Error 55555, severity 16, state 1 was raised, but no message with that error number was found in sys.messages. If error is larger than 50000, make sure the user-defined message is added using sp_addmessage."

The event log just shows the same message.

Since this is a clean machine not yet in production I can wipe and re-install as needed, but I'm VERY curious as to what the cause is. What is that error code signifying?

Thanks, I was looking in the wrong place.  The 64bit version of that feature pack also worked for me, even though I don't have SQL 2005 installed.

    Thanks again!

You might try getting it out of the SQL Server 2005 SP4 Feature Pack components at www.microsoft.com/.../details.aspx.

I installed everything I could with 2012 but I haven't found a specific SQL Server 2005 Backward Compatibility download anywhere.  Is it included in the 2012 install or is it a separate download?

Did you install the SQL Server 2005 Backward Compatibility?

    RE: Error 55555

I'm having this problem today.  Trying to connect RMS 2.0.1000 to

Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio 11.0.3128.0

Microsoft Analysis Services Client Tools 11.0.3128.0

Microsoft Data Access Components (MDAC) 6.2.9200.16384

    Microsoft MSXML 3.0 6.0

    Microsoft Internet Explorer 9.10.9200.16384

    Microsoft .NET Framework 4.0.30319.17929

    Operating System 6.2.9200

on Windows Server 2012 Standard Build 9200

What am I missing?  I've installed all features of SQL Server and walked through sp 1-4 and fp 1-2 of RMS.

Excellent answer, Even with the SQL 2012 compatibility that comes with 2.0.1000 you still need to install the Backwards Compatibility Patch for SQL.

    Re: Error 55555

In my case, I had forgotten to install the Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Backward Compatibility.  Once I installed it, the "Error 55555..." went away and I was finally able to connect to the DB to upgrade it within RMS Administrator.

You cannot use SQL2k12 with any version of RMS less than 2.0.1000 (FP2)
