What is the correct action to take to adjust stock with minimal impact to the gl accounts

Hi all,
 
please assist my client with this query
 
We need your guidance with regards to the stock adjustments required.
 
  1. What is the correct action to take to adjust stock with minimal impact to the GL – stock count / stock take / stock adjustment?
  2. Adjust the sub-ledger to agree to actual stock with little impact to the GL amount.
  3. Order clean up.

    Hi,
     
    Using physical inventory journals or item journals will post to the following G/L accounts.
     
    Inventory Posting Setup
     
    The inventory account will be reduced if you are negatively adjusting stock.
     
    General Posting Setup
    The debit will then be posted to the inventory Adjmt. Account.
     
    I am not sure why there should be minimal impact on the G/L but usually at stock take on these can be set to the same G/L account so that the debit/credit hits the same account and the opening TB will then populate your stock account.  Maybe that is an option?
