Order Confirmation: Brand-Specific Backgrounds in Business Central

Question:

What is the best and most modern method to implement brand-specific backgrounds on our Sales Order Confirmations in Business Central?

Legacy Situation (Navision/NAV):
In Navision, we achieved this using PDFSharp combined with a Custom Code Unit. This unit merged the generated report with an external PDF file (the background) stored on a local disk, based on the brand.

Requirement (Business Central):
We need to replicate this functionality in BC, adhering to modern development practices. We specifically want to avoid relying on local disk paths or external code units to handle the merging process.

I am looking for advice from the community on the best architectural approach for this requirement in the Business Central environment.

Thank you in advance for your insights.

    Hello,

Best modern BC method = use multiple Word layouts, one per brand. Put the brand background directly inside the Word layout. Select the right layout using Custom Report Selections or Document Layouts.
No PDF merging, no file system, no codeunit hacks — fully SaaS-safe.

Use PDF post-processing (OnPreRendering / OnAfterDocumentReady) only if you must merge external PDFs.
