Fixed Asset field to record an asset tag number

We are looking for a field on our Fixed Asset cards where we can enter the number of a physical tag that we are putting on some of our assets. From a download of the Fixed Asset cards from BC I can see a field named ETag (it's the last field after Insured), yet I cannot see where I am able to enter data for this in the FA Card. Also, there is another field that is a duplicate of the Description field named Search_ Description. Has anyone used this field for other information?
I have the same question (0)

    Hey Friend,

    Very interesting.
But same use cased i recently got for one of the customer and we have created simple one field which provide the Asset Tagging details.

We have not used both the field Etag (Not found may be localization) and Description 2 can not be recommended as in future in any FA names came with more text then it will be very difficult to maintain static data.

hence recommending to create one field and add the required information to make life and process easy,

    Hi,
I've had to go check whether that field exists because I created one for tagging Assets. I think the Etag is an extension so If you're comfortable with page customizations and creating extensions, consider adding the ETag field to the Fixed Asset card for easier access.

You could use the serial number field, if that fits your needs. The mentioned field ETag  is not standard at least in the US or ES version. It is probably a custom field.

Personally, I would recommend using the serial number field, as it's available out of the box. Alternatively, you could have a developer add a custom field for you, which is relatively straightforward to do.

Agree with the previous responses. recommending to create one field and add the required information.

Hi, You can also try Description 2, which is not displayed on the page by default.

You can add it to the page using the following method, which does not require customization.
Business Central 2023 wave 2 (BC23): Add existing table fields to optimize your pages (Adding Table Fields to Page without Page Extensions)

    Thanks

    thank you ZHU

I have added the Description 2 field. Although I'm not able to edit this field. Is there another step to enable editing of this field?
