I may be confused on the intention of the back order report.
Is this report to show what items have been backordered on PO's you have placed?

If not is there a report that shows items placed on PO but not yet received?

    Ed,

    A back order report will show you back orders you created at the point of sale for individual customers.

    You want a Purchase Order report with the Status filter set to 'Partial' instead of 'Open'.  Or better yet, set the status filter to NOT EQUAL 'Closed'.
