Production raw material picking( Work created to pick and put in same location)

Finished good Item number- FG1

Raw material item number- RM1

Production default input location- Prod locations

Production raw material staging location- Rawmaterial locations

BOM-> 1FG1 requires 10 RM1.

I have a inventory of 20 ea of RM1 for Rawmaterial locations.

Created a production order for 1 qty of FG1. Release the production order and picking work got created.

As item master is setup for Staging picking, picked whole pallet of 20 ea from rawmaterial locations and put in Prod location.

Completed work and consumed 10 RM1 for production order and left over of 10ea RM1 are still in Prod locations.

Created a another production order of 1 qty of FG1 and release the production order.

In ideal situation, as already inventory available in Prod locations, it should not create any picking work.

But for me, its creating work to pick from Prod locations and put in Prod locations.

Is there any setup missing not to create any picking work, if inventory is available in prod locations

Hi,

Could it be that the production input location is license plate controlled and therefore requires work to be performed to get the license plate registered in the production picklist?

I have experienced difficulties with trying to start a higher qty in the Job card terminal than the production order was created with. This only works if the production input location is not license plate controlled or the location and license plate is specified on the production BOM.

I am not able to test this myself but hope the input might be helpful.

Hello Sravan,

There are maybe two options:

Avoid the automatic release to warehouse for the second production order with the parameter "Release to warehouse"

Avoid work creation in case when the pick location is a "production put location" via the query function of the work template for raw material picking

Are you using operation or job scheduling?

In you BOM for item FG1 the raw material item RM1 is checked for 'Resource consumption'?

What is value for the setting 'Issue status after raw material picking' in warehouse master? (Make it reserved physical if it is picked for you)
