Sales order confirmation requirement in packing slip and invoice posting

Hi all,

What parameter or logic controls whether I will be able to Post packing slip or Invoice the order if Confirmation is not posted?
What I find in my own system is that at first I am not able to post packing slip without confirmation, but for example if I already post packing slip and I add new line it is possible.
Is there any predefined logic on this?

Kind regards.
I have the same question (0)

    Good day,

To my knowledge, there is no such parameter for the sales order confirmation. Sales order confirmation is not a mandatory step before posting the packing slip or invoice. Do you have any customizations or extensions in place?

    Best regards,

There is no control as you describe. What you could do is introduce Picking requirements via the Item model group(s) to prevent Packing slip posting until the pick is confirmed. You could also introduce Deduction requirements in the same way to prevent invoice before packing slip is updated.

    Hi,

There’s no strict system parameter that universally enforces Sales order confirmation before packing slip or invoice, but here’s what controls the behavior:

Confirmation is not mandatory in standard D365 FO — it's informational (for legal or customer communication), not a technical prerequisite.

However, if you try to post a packing slip before confirming and the line was recently added or modified, it may trigger a block due to reservation or inventory update dependencies.

    Hope this helps,
    Zain

    Hi
Sales order confirmation is not a mandatory step unlike Purchase order confirmation.
However posting a Sales order confirmation is very important step as it gives you the history of any changes done in quantities, prices etc. As this is the document to be shared with the Customer to confirm and proceed ahead to dispatch process any situation related to  misunderstanding can be avoided.

Moreover, under Item model group - Picking requirements  and Deduction requirement can be enabled to make picking and post packing slip mandatory.

    Hope it helps.!
    Regards
