AP Aging does not match AP GL

AP Aging does not match AP GL. I have GP10. Everything was reconciled for 2016 and periods locked.  Now, I have an unreconciled balance between the sub-ledger and the ledger. I  went to Reconcile to GL but nothing there. The report is the same report as was on December when I reconciled 2016. Help! Any thoughts!

When you run the Reconcile to GL routine, make sure your beginning balance reconciles. If the error didn't happen within the date period you choose, you will not get any results in the spreadsheet. Somebody could have posted something to history making the error roll forward.

Thank you for responding back to me. I've been working with GP for less than a year now. The beginning balance never reconciles. non a single month. However, every month everything matched. I did all my financials as of Deceber 2016. I was working on some revenue issues and I went back an look and from June-2016 to December the AP balance is different. I have everything printed and now shows another balance on the GL transactions and another balance on the payable transactions. I have no idea. I checked everything.

    Awilda,

If everything is posted, and you've included all of the GL accounts, the subsidiary trial balance should match the GL every time. Be sure you are using the GL Posted date when running your Historical Aged Trial Balance report. To find differences, you need to find a time when it matched. You stated that it never matched, it must have at some point. Maybe you'll need to go back to the beginning and include a very large period in the GL reconciliation routine. Comparing the two ledgers is the only way that I know of to identify the differences.

    Kind regards,

Also another point to note.  I have seen it relatively often - and usually in older sites - where something in history ends up with a missing apply record - resulting in a very old record appearing on the ATB that wasn't there before.  So if the ATB has changed, this could be a factor.  Printing a detailed ATB may give you some clues.

If I am reading your post right - the ATB itself has not changed - is that correct?  Just the GL balances have changed?

If so, then also look for a transaction that has been posted into the GL that did not have a series Purchasing.  I have many times seen where a journal has been posted to a control account.
