How automated is the are the US tax updates in Dynamics GP? I know Microsoft releases regular patches, but does this add deductions if new ones have been introduced?
I am trying to determine if this is a suitable module. Our biggest pain point right now is we learn about taxes after we have been in a jurisdiction for a while, at which point it is too late to collect the proper deductions from staff.

There are two types of updates. There are tax table updates and then there are tax code updates. Tax table updates are very auitomated are often are state specific. Tax code updates are trickier because you have to update your reports dictionaries. You can contact your GP Partner to stay abreast of any tax changes or log into to CustomerSource and check the tax table update section. If you are moving into a new jurisdiction you could always check the current GP tax tables for that jurisdiction and then contact that jurisdiction and compare the two. The tax tables are usually pretty much update to date but with today's polictical complete that is easier said then done.
The tax update is pretty automatic but is initiated manually. You could have a user apply tax updates on a weekly basis. Any changes to forms would be part of the patches, SP, etc..
