How can I update currently installed MSSQLSERVER Express-edition Version 9.4.5292

to

SQLEXPRESS Instance Express-edition Version 10.51.2500.0?

so I can restore a previous RMS SO backup done in 10-51-2500.

Basically my RMS SO install is inoperable under 9.4.5292

See attached discovery report.

Please help; Thank you.

You will need to download the SQL 2008 R2 express installer.

    www.microsoft.com/.../details.aspx

Then see this Microsoft website for explicit instructions:

    msdn.microsoft.com/.../ms144267(v=sql.105).aspx

You basically run the setup.exe file and choose the upgrade option.  Then select the instance name for your sql 2005 installation.

The only way the update worked for me is to first and foremost UNINSTALL SQL Server 2008 R2 from Windows Control Panel.
