You do not have {0} permission to access {1} records error message appears when using Categorized search

Hello.

We are having the error "You do not have {0} permission to access {1} records." when using the Categorized search on D365. The problem is somewhere on the Security roles because the users getting the error are using Custom Role. The functionality works fine with Admin role.

Can you help me?

Either replicate the error within the old UI (This will give you a meaningful error message) or you can look in the debugger like so - www.itaintboring.com/.../

Thanks for the reply! It seems that the Search is working fine on the old UI. These problems with new UI are just difficult to understand..

We had the exact same issue a couple of days ago. The Categorized Search searches over a number of entities and your user doesn't have access to one or more of the selected entities.

Go to Settings > Administration > System Settings

On the General tab, under 'Set up Search' you can select the entities that are available through categorized search. In our case we had to remove the entity 'Case' from the options. An alternative option for you would be to add permissions for the 'missing' entities to your custom role.

easiest fix is, replicate what user is trying to search using customised search. Once you have query then make sure user have permissions to read data from those entities he/she is querying.

    Hi All,

In my case I just have to update User Setting Role under the Business Management.

This is for a generic error: You do not have {0} permission to access {1} records

To see the actual permission errors, we need to use inspect (F12) in the browser to see the errors in the console. Errors details on the console will give us the complete information for the exact permission issue for the entity. Please refer to the below blog post for more details:
