creating new client install package -- install ?

If a new client install package is created, what is the best way to update the client's machine that has an old client install. 

Changes:  the  new client install package has the HR module included.  

 -- Do I uninstall the old, or just run the new client install package?

    Uninstall the old client and then use the package to install the new version.
