Item Variant - Production By-Product

Having difficulty getting by-roducts to pull through onto production orders.

Current set up -

Item1 with variants = variant1, variant 2.

In item1 BOM, i've included variant1 and variant2 as by production by-products.

When i go to create/refresh production order nothing pulls through besides the top level item.

Any ideas would be much appreciated. Thank you

I am not sure to get the complete understanding of your setup here, maybe detailed scenario steps could help. What I would like to hare this link, that I found very helpful regarding production BOM and variant. is this helpful?
