Create CRM Test Environment with Old CRM and New CRM

I have to create a test CRM environment. Can I restore an older CRM (we have 2015) to Dynamics 365? Or do I have to stay with CRM 2015?

    Hi ,

    As you mentioned you have to create new instance , so my suggestion is to install dynamics 365 V9.0 in separate environment  and then import your customization solution and do the data migration if you want to move the data as well. You need to take care the deprecated functionality separately after solution import in D365 9.0.

    Yes you can upgrade CRM 2015 to Dynamics 365 via upgrade path, first to 2016 and then to Dynamics 365.

    Before I provide you with more infor and pointing to resources, may I ask if you are planning to upgrade to Dynamics 365 Online or On-Prem?
