cannot delete a solution with dependencies

Hello dear Dyn. 365 Community,

I'm trying to perform a solution upgrade. This doesn't work because i can't delete the old solution. If I try to delete the old solution manually, it won't work either, because the solution has dependencies.
During my Google search I came across XRM-Toolbox and the Managed Solution Deletion Tool. There I can delete any solution except the one I have to delete.

Is there another way to delete a MANAGED Solution with dependencies?

Thanks for your help.

Kind regards :-)

    Hi Melvin,

are you aware of the outcome of the deleting a managed solution - it will remove all customizations within this solution and so as data.

if you need to upgrade a solution -all you have to do is simply select overwrite customization option by importing the same managed solution (with updates) from source.

and if you really need to delete the managed solution - you need to see what dependency it shows and fix them/work towards them by using a holding solution approach or other.

    Hey, Rawish,

thank you for your quick answer.

Yes, I am aware of that. The way you described it is the standard way for me to proceed.

My big problem is that there are dependencies displayed that affect the solution itself.

The real reason for this is that we have a system at a customer which has been filled with about 64 solutions. Some solutions we could remove because they are not needed and these also no dependencies.

We improved some solutions on the development environment and wanted to update them on the production environment.

I played them as a patch to the prod. environment. Unfortunately the changes were not accepted there. Except the newly created fields. So I proceeded as follows:
    https://nishantrana.me/2018/05/16/delete-solution-components-from-managed-solution-without-clone-solution-in-dynamics-365/

Unfortunately the upgrade with the solution doesn't work because he can't delete the solution because dependencies ...

I hope I could explain myself clearly.

    Thank you 4 your help.

    Hi Melvin,

Sorry for not getting back to you early. I hope you have got some lead already.

& I think i understood the situation - however, our underlying issue is the dependencies. Could you please see what dependencies are you getting , are there many or just one or two?  You have to work on them one by one, there is no shortcut to it.

    First find out dependencies.

Delete dependencies then you will be able to delete solution.
