ODBC Driver Manager, Windows 7 Professionial 64 Bit, Excel Data Sources

Recently took over for previous IT Manager who has several Excel Spreadsheets that update pertinent data upon refresh from Dynamics 9.0 GP.   The PC I have has Windows 7 Pro 64 bit and Office Pro 2007.   When opening Excel Documents with data connections to Dynamics and try to refresh.  I get an error saying '[Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager]The specified DSN contains an archetecture mismatch between the Driver and the Application'

I used a KBA from TechNet on how to set up an ODBC Data Source on SQL Server for Microsoft Dynamics GP but still get the error.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hello Zach - GP 9.0 is currently an unsupported version.  I will open this up to our Community Forum members.

    Hi Zach

The DSN should be created using the 32 bit ODBC driver. ODBCAD.exe found in C:\Windows\SysWOW64\

I did use this.  Server is the SQLSERVER, used SQL authentication, sa account, Since I am connecting to SQLServer 2005, I used the SQL Server Native Client Version 10.00.2531. Still getting the mismatch error.

I found plenty of articles but they all seemed to point to the same answer.

Here's a link regarding the 32-bit and 64-bit ODBC administrators.

Thank you Callen.   I have followed the ODBC connection instructions to the letter to still get the same error.  I went and looked at a Windows 7 32bit machine and his data connections.   I set them up exactly the same on my 64bit 7 professional machine using the 32bit ODBC Driver Manager only to get same results.  I use an MSDN article how to set up an ODBC Data Source on SQL Server for Microsoft Dynamics GP.   At a complete loss.

Clarification -  I am using an existing spreadsheet in Excel 2007 that pulls data from Dynamics tables.  When I am refreshing data connections I get the ODBC driver mismatch error.

This has been resolved.   I was under the impression that it didn't really matter what I named the ODBC but in speaking to the previous IT Manager he told me the correct name and I changed the name of my ODBC and it worked?  Thanks for everyone's help however.

Thank you for updating the case Zach.  I am glad you were able to resolve the issue.
