I would recommend doing a transfer out in the manager.   However, if you want to do it through the POS you can ring it up as normal and change the price to 0.   I would also recommend setting up a reason code to track it.   Doing it through the POS can cause some security issues though.  Unless you apply some cashier rights other people that work for you might see what you are doing and end up doing that for themselves or friends.   Or next year when  you are doing and inventory or sales reports and you see some things put through the register and forgot it was you may cause issues.   It can be done, but I wouldn't recommend it.    You could also simply go into the item properties into the POS and just change the qty, but then you will have no record of it at all....

In the store I used to work at we had a sheet that we would enter things like that on with a date and signature and then someone would put it into a transfer out weekly or monthly.   That makes accounting for those items much easier.

Nycraz, Please do not type in capitals as this is considered yelling.

Now, The easiest way to do for you to take stock at 100% discount and keep records is:

1 - Make yourself as a cashier with your own password, and in cashier options tick all the "Allowed to... " that you feel you need. including "Allowed to sell employees at discount".

2 - Make a Customer account for yourself on Customer Options tick "Customer is an employee" and set discount on 100%.

3 - All the other cashiers make sure not to tick "Allowed to sell to employees" and any other actions that you don't want cashiers to do and not let them know your password.

Every time you need get something for yourself, log in with your cashier name and Password, select customer your account, receipt will be created with 100% discount and the quantity will be reduced.

    I hope this can help.
