What caused duplicate contacts

We have Dynamics CRM on-premise.

We reassigned an account from user A to user B.

Our cascading for contacts is set to cascade user owned

One hour later all contacts which were owned by user A where dublicated and both the original and the new record were owned by User B

Contacts owned not by User A stayed at the orignal owner and are not duplicated.

Does anyone have an idea what could have caused this issue and how to avoid it?

Can it be caused by a Dynamics CRM client synchronization f.e. although the unique ids have not changed off course.

I can understand that cascade user own may change ownership but It will not create duplicate contact.

Please check created by and created on of contact. Also make sure that there is no workflow/plugin registered on Assign of Account/contact.

The duplicates 180 items are all created by the new owner within one 1 minute.

So it had to be an automatic process.

I don't see any processes. The creation time was about an hour later then the change of ownership.

I have the feeling it is done by a synchronization process actually

    Hi,

Contact can also be created by Outlook. Check if this is something caused this issue.

I have the feeling this is the cause but how can we find out if this is the case. The reassignment of the account happened at 3.12 PM and all new contacts have been created at 4.13PM outlook would do the sync based on the unique ID right, so it should have actualy get updates from CRM to local contacts instead.

Created By and Owner were both set to User B who was the new owner of the existing records. The existing records were also reassigned.

I am having exactly the same problem; did you ever find a solution?
