CRM for small business - is it Dynamics?

I have a business asking me about Dynamics.  They have three sales people.  It seems to me Dynamics is rather overkill for a small shop?  They also looked at the Customer Management plug-in to Outlook, but couldn't see where you could provide an oversight view of all activities to the sales manager.

I'm seeking suggestions/advice from this esteemed group.  Is Dynamics CRM intended for small business?  The pricing is rather steep.

    Hi Deb!

Dynamics 365 is for SMB and I think Dynamics 365 for Sales Professional is a good option in your case.

    Regards!

I guess it depends on the usage they want from the CRM, the amound of customers and the features they are looking for. If I was asked the same question by a customer such as yours, I would probably say no since I bet there's probably way to many functionalities in Dynamics CRM for such a small team. They'd be paying for a lot of things they wouldn't use.

I would probably go for an Open Source solution that offers an easy way to extract the data from the CRM until they hopefully grow to a size where it makes sense to pay for a CRM solution. There's also some competitors I will not name that provide a Free solution for small businesses, allowing you to start using the solution for free for as long as you want until you decide to pay for more features. I think Microsoft should think about something like that to attract customers!

    Hi!

I think, using Dynamics 365 for Sales Professional (SaaS) is a way of growing and I think TCO will be similar or less than Open sw. Open is not equal to free.

    Although I understand your reflection.

    Regards.

It seems the new modularized (app) model allows for the Sales app to be purchased for a reason subscription fee.  That solves this scenario.  Thank you, everyone, for the response.

the problem is the price...SMB use to have a special offer, but not enymore. +100 us dol per user per month is not the price that an SMB org can afford
