Is it possible to add notes to a new record. I can see this option being enabled only when a record is saved.

Your observation is correct. Notes can only be added to a record is already created.
But it is possible in CRM 2011. Has the behavior been changed in 2013
The traditional CRM 2011 Forms (data driven forms) do not allow you add notes until you create the master record. However, the process driven forms in CRM 2011 (Polaris update) allows you to ADD notes even without creating a master record. To an end your user, its feels as though the notes was created, but when you double click the notes, it displays an error message "You cannot open this item until you save the parent item". Even when you search for this record though Advanced Find, it doesn't show up. So the notes is not committed to the DB until the master record is created. This is the same behavior in CRM 2013.
Yes, I checked and it works the way you described...still the thing is that in 2011 you can save notes with the new record...the note field is not disabled (I believe it will internally save the parent first and then Notes) in one request to the server. Can the same be achieved in 2013....Please assist.
