Business Central SaaS - Work Offline

Hi everyone,

We have a customer running Business Central SaaS, and they are asking about the possibilities for working in offline mode. Specifically, in situations where they experience connectivity issues, they want to know if it’s possible to continue working without disrupting operations and then have everything sync back once they’re online again.

Does Business Central provide any options or approaches for this scenario?

Thanks in advance!

    Hi,
There is no built-in offline mode option avaible for the core Business Central SaaS version as of now.

    Thanks

    hii there ,
as Business central SAAS version is cloud based . so you can not do posting offline , if you have data in Bulk you can create a data upload process through that you can upload data and post once its inserted through package .

so for that we suggest if you are working in remote area where you have limited access , also your employee is assign to specific location only . so on their transaction they can add the data as per provided format and once its done they can just upload data through XML port , or excel import method . for the inventory related concern is there so please check it.

if you found your answer mark it answered.

    Thank You

Business Central SaaS does not support true offline mode. It’s a cloud-first ERP, so users need connectivity.
Excel / Configuration Packages: Export data, work offline in Excel, then re-import.

No built-in offline sync in BC SaaS — only workarounds with Excel

No, in SaaS, everything needs to be connected online.

You can build something that pushes data online.
Let's say your user fill in information in excel offline, then you publish that excel when you are online.

    No. BC can't do that.
Although it's more complicated, you can apply for an on-premise version, issue a dual license, and then set up synchronization with SaaS. However, please keep in mind that this won't be real-time.

    Hope this helps.
    Thanks.

    Hi,

Business Central SaaS works on Web Browser and requires active internet connection at all the time. The main benefit of SaaS model is the very instant sync of the data across all users working any where in the globe. So there is no way you can open it or use it without Internet.

Unfortunately.. it’s not possible at all... the best option for you seems to be on-premise version or you can go with the dual license (as zhu suggested) and sync your on-premise environment to the cloud whenever needed..

    Hi,
Agreed with below responses, Business Central SaaS, in its standard web and mobile client form, does not have a general-purpose offline mode.
Apart from below solution, one of the solution involves creating a Power App for the exact task that needs to be performed offline, identify the task, Build a Canvas App, enable offline mode, work offline and sync back.
First, precisely define the scenario. Don't ask for "offline mode." Ask, "Which specific employees and which specific tasks must continue if the internet goes down?" The answer is usually not "everything."
Mark true, “Does this answer your question” if it helps.

By default, Business Central requires an internet connection. If you need the entire system to work offline, the simpler option would be to use an internet service such as Starlink, so users are always connected instead of making the system work offline.
If you only need offline capability for specific tasks, you could explore third-party apps, for example there are apps for the service module that work offline, or develop your own Power Apps solution.
