Welcome to the Dynamics GP Support and Services Blog. This new blog is designed to provide you the insights, knowledge and challenges that our support engineers tackle every day.
We’ve recently received a couple reports of users who have deployed the Microsoft Dynamics GP 2013 Web Client who see their web browse give the following error and crash upon login:
If you look at the details of the error you will see the following:

The key here is that the faulting module is listed as “npctrl.dll”. Our research has discovered that this error points to a current compatibility issue between Silverlight 5 and VMware. This issue has been triaged by the Silverlight team and a fix is scheduled to be released soon.
If you need to access a Web Client installation that is hosted on a VMware machine you will need to log in from a machine that is not a VMware image. Please note that this may require you to reinstall the GP 2013 Web Client if you used a self-signed certificate as that would not allow you to log in from any other machine. If you did use a self-signed certificate you will need to reinstall using a certificate that can be trusted throughout your domain (e.g. Active Directory Certificate Services or a 3rd party certificate). The other workaround is to reinstall the GP 2013 Web Client on a virtual machine that uses Hyper-V, which has not displayed any compatibility issues.
What is your OS and IE version?
Thanks for your question Soma.
This will be an issue no matter which combination of the supported OS and IE versions you are using for GP 2013 Web Client. The crux of the issue is you're opening a browser on a VMware machine and attempting to access the Web Client.
If you are just hosting the Web Client server(s) on VMware you can still access Web Client from a workstation that is not using VMware.
Thumbs up Lucas! Thanks for the post! It was driving me crazy looking for a cause.
