I wanted to delete workers / employees from the D365FO. If I did so What will be its impact in system and How could I delete the them?
There will be some validations if you are allowed to delete a worker. It will not work when there are dependent records/transactions.
Why do you want to delete a worker? It will be on the Past workers list page for possible historical data/analyses.
I assume you mean disable, right?
One possibility that you might experience from disabling users is that batch jobs that this user account was running do not run anymore.
You should not (and can't) delete workers who are referenced in transactions. Why would you want to do that? Doesn't your organization need to see later who did what and who was in some position? Normally such historical data is even required by legislation.
Thank you for your reply. Basically we wanted to delete users which are no longer using the system. We don't want to terminate the employee just wanted to delete them from the system. User is more interested in why cant we delete it. what will be its impact if we delete them
There is a lot of history related to a user or worker. Suppose it was possible, all kind of references from transactions and master data has an invalid reference. Suppose the worker was using timesheets or was the order taker of a sales order. If the worker is deleted, it will have invalid references.
Difficult to to tell without more information - for example is the employee also a user?
If so then his id may be stamped in transaction records.
Is the employee id a financial dimension?
Is the employee linked to any open transactions e.g, as a resource on a project.
If not sure, then probably best to inactivate, and you may also want to do the same in AD.
