Needing some help filtering data with Chart Panes.
To be clear, these are the Charts that can be viewed from the Chart Pane next to the Opportunity record list in D365.
Ideally, my client would like to exclude a specific result from being counted in those charts.
Is there any way to do this?
I notice the Charts customizations section is quite light on.
Charts displays data from a specific view. So if you exclude those records from the view, it will be excluded from the charts as well. This is also dynamics i.e. as you change the view on the left side views, the results also changes.
Hope this helps.
The data for the chart is completely from the view, so we just need to add a filter to the view.
There are two ways: temporary filters and permanent filters.
1. temporary filters
This filtering is temporary and will not be stored in views and charts, it is removed when you refresh the page.
1) As shown, this is an opportunity chart.
2) I added a filter to the Account column so that the view has only a few records.
3) At the same time, this filter has been applied to the chart, excluding some data.
If you want to save this filter, you can click "Save filter as a new view" in the command bar. The filtered view will exist as a new view and will not affect the original view.
2. permanent filters
This is actually a modification of the filter conditions of the view itself. You can modify the original view or create a new one.
Click the Create view button to create a new view.
I recommend creating a view and not recommending to modify the original view.
Please refer to these documents:
This data in in charts are depended on the specific view you have selected.
To exclude certain set of records from the chart, you can create a new view for opportunities with required filter criteria.
Please mark as verified if this was helpful.
Thank you Lu. You've been a great help.
The only thing I don't understand is why the newly created View does not show up in the Customizations section (Entity > Opportunity > Views).
Maybe I need to give it time to update itself?
Did you create a personal view or syatem view?
Personal views wont show in customization area.
This is because there are only public views and system views in the default solution (Customizations section).
Views created directly on the opportunity's form interface are personal views, they don't appear in the Customizations section.
Under the My Views tab are all personal views.
If you want to edit a personal view, you have to edit it in the advanced find.
Open the advanced find, select Look For as Opportunities, Use Saved View as a personal view.
Click the Edit Columns button to edit the view's columns. Click the Edit Properties button to edit the view's name and description. Click the Detils button to edit the view's filter criteria.
