Utilize Scripts within Integration Manager in Microsoft Dynamics GP
Many companies utilize Integration Manager to import data into Microsoft Dynamics GP. Integration Manager allows users to quickly map their source data to an appropriate data object and safely import master records and transactions into Dynamics GP.
With the use of Scripts, users can expand the functionality of Integration Manager to better manage their source data and increase their options importing and updating data within Dynamics GP. All too often users need to open and manipulate their source files prior to import. Much, if not all, of this work can be accomplished through the use of scripts.
Scripts can be incorporated at multiple stages of your Integration. They can be added to fields within the Destination Mapping, to Source Queries and before/after the actual integration.
Integration Manager includes a Visual Basic Script Library which provides common scripts you can utilize without programming or scripting knowledge. Examples of some common scripts are setting document types based on an amount column, removing special characters and concatenating source file fields. Advanced scripting can be added as well for tasks such as database lookups, renaming and removing source files, SQL Insert and Update Statements, etc.
Integration Manager scripting is a powerful, time saving feature. Consider reviewing your existing integrations for opportunities to add scripting.
