As of Jan 1, 2022, licensing changes have been made to the new commerce experience (NCE) in the Cloud Solution Provider (CSP). This simplifies and improves the purchasing experience for Microsoft customers. These changes affect licensing with Microsoft 365, Dynamics 365, and Power Platform.
Purchasing Options
There are a variety of ways customers can buy their Microsoft licenses. Through a Partner, like JourneyTEAM, from Microsoft directly, or an Enterprise License Agreement where the organization can buy the number of licenses they need. Regardless of how they buy, customers will now have the same consistent buying experience, product offerings, and terms and conditions attached.
Key Features
The CSP updates released provide the following benefits regardless of how the licensing was purchased:
- Price Protection - Annual pricing is now available and encouraged as it will offer customers the best rate. This rate can be locked in for up to 3 years. Organizations can increase or decrease seat licenses at any time. If any add-on subscriptions were to be purchased throughout the year, the customer would not be billed for said add-ons until the following year/next billing period.
- Monthly Subscriptions - Monthly subscriptions are also available and more flexible, but will have a 20% higher premium.
- Scalable Options - Can have a hybrid of monthly and yearly plans, and can be set up to meet your individual business requirements.
Dates to Remember
Some of these changes have already begun to roll out, but changes will continue to take effect throughout the year. If you currently have a Microsoft license, please note the promotions page in your Partner Center account to see which option works best for you.
