How to Delete Views in Dynamics CRM That Are No Longer Relevant
Views (4296)
Creating custom views in Microsoft Dynamics CRM is an not only a great feature, but an efficient time saver for many users. But what do you do with those custom views when they become outdated and no longer relevant? No need to let them sit in the view graveyard.
Use this easy tip to keep your instance of Dynamics CRM clean by deleting those old, no longer used views in just a few steps.
- Go to Settings
- Go to Customizations
- Click on Customize the system
- Go to the entity for the view that is no longer needed (in the example below it is called ‘Test view’)
- Click views in the entity
- Select the view you want to remove or delete
- Click the delete button (see highlighted ‘X’)
- It will ask you to confirm deletion of the view. Once deleted it cannot be undone. If you are unsure if you will need the view in the future, deactivation should likely be done instead of deletion.
- You may get a pop up “Cannot Delete Component” if you try to delete a view that is managed or used in other areas of CRM.
- Do not forget to publish your customizations to remove the view(s) from the areas that display it.
Once deleted the view will no longer show in the views in CRM or in the Active Entity Views list.
We encourage you to share this and our other Microsoft Dynamics CRM tips and tricks with your CRM users.
