Configure Buy one Get One free (BOGO) offer in AX 2012 Retail

Hi Guys, This blog post is relevant to the Microsoft Dynamics AX for Retail periodic discount. We will focus on getting the BOGO offer configure for the stores. This is an usual requirement from all the Retail scenarios to have BOGO free offer. Sometimes it is achieved buy configuring the Retail periodic discounts to get 50% off on each item when 2 qty is selected for the same item. But here we will configure it to get 100% off on a single item and another item to have 100% price. This way it is easier to determine which item is getting what promotions. We will discuss multiple methods of achieving this scenario.

For Example : We have item 0001 and the requirement is to configure BOGO free offer such that when we add 2 quantity of 0001 , 100% discounts will be applied to 1 qty and other qty to have 0% discount.

Method 1 : Using least expensive feature in Mix and Match discount

Define the following details:

Discount : From Number sequence/manual

Name : BOGO-Least expensive setup

Currency : USD

Assign Price groups that is attached to the store. I was working with Houston store so I attached RP-Houston price group

Add the Mix and match line groups having 2 qty. I attached B which was having 2 qty.

Price/discount : Least expensive – 1

Lines : Add the item 0001 and select the line group B (that was attached in the Mix and match line groups)

Change the status to enabled.

Replicate the data to POS database. Run the 1020 Prices and discount scheduler job to the stores.

Select the Customer and add the item twice in the transaction and you will get the desired result.

Method 2 : Using line Spec and Product category feature in Mix and Match discount

Define the following details:

Discount : From Number sequence/manual

Name : BOGO-Line Spec using Product category

Currency : USD

Assign Price groups that is attached to the store. I was working with Houston store so I attached RP-Houston price group.

Add the Mix and match line groups with 2 line groups having 1 quantity each.

Price/discount : Line Spec

Lines : Select the Category in which the item is available and then select the item in the Product field in the same line, this way AX allows to add the same item twice. Define 100% in the Deal price/Discount percentage column and select Discount % in the Discount type column. Select the first line group from the two that was define in the Mix and match line groups.

Add the item 0001 in the second line and select the other line group. Define 0% in the Deal price/Discount percentage column and select Discount % in the Discount type column

Change the status to enabled.

Replicate the data to POS database. Run the 1020 Prices and discount scheduler job to the stores.

Select the Customer and add the item twice in the transaction and you will get the desired result.
