How to Create a New Sales Quote by Copying an Existing Document in Business Central

Creating a new sales quote in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central can be a repetitive task, especially if many of the details are similar to previous quotes. Fortunately, Business Central provides a 'Copy Document' feature to speed up this process. However, there's a caveat: you cannot create a new sales quote by copying from an existing, filled-out quote if you remain on the same quote page. You need to create a new quote first. Let's walk through the correct process step by step.

Step 1: Access Sales Quotes
Navigate to your list of sales.
Step 2: Create a New Sales Quote
Instead of editing an existing quote, you must start a new one. Click on 'New' to open a blank sales quote page.
Step 3: Use the 'Copy Document' Function
With the new, blank sales quote open, click on 'prepare', and select 'Copy Document'.
Step 4: Specify the Sales Quote to Copy
A window will pop up, prompting you to specify the document type and number you wish to copy. Set the 'Document Type' to 'Quote', and then enter the number of the quote you're copying.
Using the 'Copy Document' feature properly can save you time and ensure consistency across your sales quotes. Remember, the key is to start from a new sales quote to avoid any issues. Embrace the efficiency of Business Central and let it handle the heavy lifting in your sales documentation process.
