Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2016 Update/Service Pack 1 re-released

Josh Wells - MSFT Profile Picture Josh Wells - MSFT 961

The Microsoft Dynamics CRM Support team wanted to make you aware that we recently released an updated version of Update/Service Pack 1 for the CRM Outlook client.  There was an issue within the original version of Update/Service Pack 1 that would cause Outlook to crash for a number of users.

We have re-released Update/Service Pack 1 for the CRM Outlook client to address the issue that caused that specific crashing scenario.  If you deployed Update/Service Pack 1 for the Outlook client prior to this release, we HIGHLY encourage you to install the latest update to avoid this crashing scenario.

To identify if the client is still using the original version, do the following:

  1. On a client workstation with the CRM Outlook client installed, click on Start and type Run to open the Run command
  2. Type in: appwiz.cpl
  3. Locate Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2016 for Microsoft Office Outlook and identify the version number.

If the version is 8.1.0000.0359, you need to update to the latest version of Update/Service Pack 1 for the CRM Outlook client found here:

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=52662

If the version is 8.1.000.0371, then you have the latest update and no further action is necessary.

If you continue to face issues with the CRM Outlook client after installing the re-release for CRM 2016 Update/Service Pack 1, please engage the Microsoft Support team by creating a new support incident.

Thanks,

Josh Wells

    Hi Josh,

It looks like the Outlook part of the new update hasn't made it to the Microsoft Update Catalog yet. We use WSUS to update all our clients and been waiting for this to show up for almost 2 month now. Can you Assist?

    We need

Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2016 for Microsoft Office Outlook

    8.1.0000.0371

    CRM2016-Client-KB3154952-ENU-LangID-amd64.exe

and a search for KB3154952 in Update catalog only bring out the other four 8.1.0000.0359 update packages.

    Hi Josh,

I'm already facing an issue when configuring an organisation using the CRM Outlook client since 3rd Oct. All was working fine till Friday last week. I don't know what drastically changed over 2 days. Just that being in Melbourne, Australia, we are into daylight savings time from 2nd Oct. I have already posted the issue on the Community website - community.dynamics.com/.../213407. I have uninstalled & re-installed the client twice, but that did not help either.

I have just installed the Service Pack 1 and now my CRM client version is 8.1.000.0371, but I still get the same error.

Would appreciate your thoughts on this and a possible solution to rectify the problem.

    Many Thanks,

    Dominic.
