Take your C/SIDE development to Git and Docker with NAVBaaS Git

I’m very happy to announce that my first Visual Studio Code extension called NAVBaaS Git has been released last Wednesday.
The people who attended the session about Continuous Integration at the Dutch Dynamics Community event already had their first glimpse at the brand new extension and I really hope that people are or will be excited about this extension.

Source control is step one if you want to do professional development and with source control in place you’re able to take the next step, which is Continuous Integration!

So what can we do with this extension?
The idea behind this extension is to simplify and professionalize your NAV development by using Docker containers and at the same time smoothly integrate those containers with Git.
Even migrating from a central development database to decentralized Docker development containers fully integrated with Git is super easy now.

Setting up the extension is extremely easy and it does not depend on any config files, the configuration (only two settings) can be done through the NAVBaaS: Go! command and will be stored in the VS Code user settings.

The extension including an extensive readme on how to get started can be found on the marketplace for Visual Studio Code, either directly in Visual Studio Code (through the extensions page) or on the marketplace website.

Feedback is important!
Creating the extension was quite fun but the only way to make it successful is by having users.
So if you have feedback, suggestions or other things that can have a positive impact on the future of this extension, please get in touch!
Of course, issues can be reported on GitHub.
