There are lots of occasions when you are working on a record in Microsoft Dynamics CRM and you need input from one of your team members based on what you are seeing. You might end up emailing them up and saying something like, “Can you look at the XYZ account record?” So first thing they are probably going to do once they hit CRM is to navigate to Accounts and then do a quick find for ‘XYZ’. If they’re lucky, they might end up with only one result, but in many cases you could have multiple accounts with similar names. Then comes the big ‘sigh’ from that user wondering which Account is the one you are referencing.
At this point the user will likely open each record individually looking for the correct one or email back asking for more clarification, but in either case, that is time wasted. A more efficient and effective approach to direct someone to a specific CRM record would be to use the ‘Email A Link’ button that is found on nearly all records in the system.
The result of which will be an email that opens, with a direct link to the specific Dynamics CRM record already embedded in the body so that your team member will know exactly which record you are asking them to view.
You can also use this same functionality from a View. You can opt to send a link to the current view or select multiple records from that view and send one email with links to all the selected records.
It’s easy to use once you know where to look for it, so give it a try next time you need to direct someone to a specific record or view in Dynamics CRM. Or, if you find yourself on the other end of that request, you can put on your CRM guru hat by suggesting an easier, more efficient, more effective way to accomplish that task – and look like a CRM superstar doing it.
