Not Possible to Inquire on Purchase Order Line Level Accounting Distributions in PO Workflow

Community Member Profile Picture Community Member

When entering Purchase requisitions and going through an approval workflow, then modifying the resulting (approved) Purchase order a re-approval would be required in some situations (usually value or financial dimension changes).

During this process it is possible to enter financial dimensions on the Purchase order line detail or via the Financials / distribute amounts (on non-inventory purchases which would come from a PR usually). Contrary to the Purchase requisition the Purchase order workflow does not allow inquiring the accounting distribution on the line level

Therefore resulting in two issues:

  • Purchase order resulting from a Purchase requisition with only accounting distributions as it will have blank financial dimensions on the line detail
  • A Purchase order line whose dimensions weren’t changed on the line details but only in the accounting distributions (or delete/add

And those cannot be checked for re-approval conditions based on financial dimension.

It is our recommendation to add the accounting distribution to the workflow via a modification. This can be done by modifying the PurchTableDocument query. You can use the Purchase Requisition workflow query as an example (PurchReqDocument). The other option would be to expose the accounting distribution fields by adding parm methods to the PurchTableDocument class. Don`t forget to generate an incremental CIL build after making the change. An AOS restart may also be needed to see your changes take effect.
