NAV 2017 Acquisition Wizard: Simplified Fixed Assets setup and purchases

Alexander Ermakov Profile Picture Alexander Ermakov 28,096

Apparently, there has been a lack of actual information on this new feature of Dynamics NAV 2017. The release notes told only: "We have made it easier to set up fixed assets. A standard setup is provided, but you can modify it if anytime you want. You can register fixed asset as cards with complete information, accounting details, and reporting classification. You can also register purchases of fixed assets through special fixed asset G/L journals where you can also dispose of fixed assets. The right accounting entries are created automatically."

However smart users started to wonder about where to find this new feature, failing to detect it in the user interface.

What I had actually traced myself by digging in the objects list is a Page 5551 "Fixed Asset Acquisition Wizard", which actually aims to streamline the process of creating and maintaining Fixed Assets cards and purchases:

By running it you get into Assisted Fixed Asset Acquisition facility:

It is basically pretty much straight-forward wizard, intuitively allowing you to make setting selections and postings. By pressing "Next" button you will be prompted to enter the acquisition cost and acquisition date:

Then, select the balancing part of the transaction:

E.g., you might be interested to select "Vendor" you are purchasing from, also input the External document number you receive from vendor:

Finally, you will get the success screen of completion your process:

and you can post your transactions to G/L as well.

Already love this feature.
