Imagine a world where instead of having to enter in numbers and create charts for hours and hours in Excel you could set up your CRM to do all the calculations based off the actual data within CRM. Sounds pretty good doesn’t it? Well in Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2015 you can increase efficiency, increase data accuracy and also analyze data more in depth when you create calculated fields.
In this example, we will be creating a calculated field that will display the commission amount based on a commission % and a revenue field.
- Create a new field called Commission %

- Create a new field called Commission Amount. Set the field type to “Calculated”, and click Edit.

- In the Calculation edit screen, set your conditions. For this example, we only want the Commission Amount field to calculate if both the Revenue and Commission % fields have data in them. So, set those as your two conditions.

- Next, set your Action. For this example, we want to take the Est. Revenue*Commission %/100. Select Add action and look up and select the Est. Revenue field first.

- Then do the following
- enter the multiply symbol “*
- select the Commission % field
- Enter in “/100”
- Your end result for your Action should look like this:

- Save and Close the window.
- Now, make sure you’ve added your new fields to the form and you should now have a calculated field for the Commission Amount.
Now that you have the calculated field created in CRM you can use it to create graphs and charts to show information in detail. This will benefit anyone who wants to analyze the data more thoroughly especially in sales and marketing where the more data the better!
